The techniques and strategies taught in the Personal Defence or Close Combat course help not only to physically cope with particular cases of violence such as an altercation, a mugging or, in the case of women, a sexual assault, but also to overcome the blocks psychological and motor problems caused by the momentary fear that comes from being faced with a road or domestic accident, a fire, an earthquake, etc. Therefore, this course represents a privileged opportunity to become more aware of one’s defensive capabilities, to obtain a greater sense of security, to believe more and more in oneself and to feel free to circulate freely at night even in the so-called “areas at risk”. In the long term, every person who has participated in the Personal Defence course will notice that the topics covered become more and more current every day, because they teach how to react instantly to any type of stress, promote the growth of self-esteem and facilitate the establishment of mechanism that leads each person to success.

More specifically, the DP course proposed by our association is aimed at young people, men and women, who due to time or availability problems cannot or do not want to undertake the study, certainly longer, tiring and complex, of a specific martial art. Or it can be used by those who are already enrolled in a martial arts course, to develop some issues that will be deepened after obtaining the black belt.

During the course there is a short warm-up and physical preparation phase before starting the study of the techniques to be performed in pairs, techniques that sometimes involve a complex dynamism of the movements. Correct breathing, precision of gestures, the ability to copy the single physical exercise and the ability to adapt it to different opponents will be taken into consideration. The participant will then have the opportunity to verify their reactive and technical skills, and the progress obtained through simulations of aggression.
